1. Introduction
FoodyDex Inc. ("FoodyDex," "we," "us," or "our") operates a food discovery and directory platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our website, directory, maps, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
2. What We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly, that we obtain automatically when you use the Service, and that we receive from third parties. This may include:
- Name, email address, phone number, and other contact details
- Account credentials and profile information
- Profile photo and name from Google or Apple when you sign in with those providers
- Location data when you use our maps or directory
- Reviews, favorites, and other content you post
- Booking inquiries and communications
- Vendor listing information, menus, and photos (for vendors)
- Photos and videos you upload (e.g., profile pictures, vendor gallery images)
- Device information, IP address, and browser data
3. Account and Profile Data
If you create an account, we store the information you provide during registration and any updates you make. For vendor accounts, we store business information, menus, photos, location data, and other listing details. Some information may be displayed publicly on your profile or vendor page. You can update or delete your account through the dashboard.
4. Sign-In with Google or Apple
You may create an account or sign in using Google or Apple. When you do, those providers share your name, email address, and (for Google) profile photo with us to set up your FoodyDex account. We do not control what data Google or Apple collect—their privacy policies apply to that relationship. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email," we receive a relay address instead of your real email.
5. Location Data
We use Mapbox and location-based services to help you discover food vendors near you. With your consent, we may collect your precise location (e.g., via GPS or browser geolocation) to show nearby vendors. You can disable location permissions in your browser or device settings. Vendor location data (e.g., for pop-ups and events) is provided by vendors and displayed to help you find them.
6. Media Uploads
Photos and videos you upload (e.g., profile pictures, vendor gallery images, menu tag images) are stored and delivered via Cloudinary. We use Cloudinary to host and serve this media. Cloudinary processes files in accordance with their privacy policy and our agreements with them.
8. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Process and manage your account
- Enable discovery of vendors, including via maps and location-based search
- Facilitate booking inquiries and communications
- Display reviews, favorites, and other user-generated content
- Send transactional and service-related communications
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
9. Advertising
On some pages we may display ads, including Google AdSense as a fallback when no paid ad is shown. Google AdSense may collect data about your visits (e.g., pages viewed, general location) to deliver relevant ads and measure performance. This is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. You can control ad personalization through your Google account settings or browser extensions.
10. Third Parties
We share data with service providers that help us operate the Service:
- Mapbox — mapping and geocoding
- Google — reCAPTCHA (form protection), AdSense (advertising), and OAuth (sign-in)
- Apple — sign-in with Apple
- Resend — transactional email (verification, password reset, booking notifications)
- Cloudinary — media hosting for uploaded photos and videos
- Hosting and infrastructure — our servers and databases process and store your data
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data. When you submit a booking inquiry, we share your contact information with the relevant vendor so they can respond. We do not sell your personal information.
11. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and comply with legal obligations. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes.
12. International Transfers
FoodyDex is based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to such transfer. If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or other regions with different data protection laws, please contact us about your rights.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us and change your password immediately.
14. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, or to restrict or object to certain processing. You can update or delete your account through the dashboard. For other requests, contact us at privacy@foodydex.com. If you are in the European Economic Area or California, additional rights may apply under applicable law.
15. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
16. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. We may also provide notice by email or through the Service. Your continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
